January Benefits Check-Up: Is Your COBRA Software Missing In Action?

It’s the first of the year and your new benefit plans are going into effect. Are your new COBRA administration services starting as well?  

It seems obvious, but many employers throw the COBRA baby out with the bathwater. In other words, they forget that COBRA administration services are sometimes an added feature provided by the carrier, and when they cancel a plan, the COBRA administration service is cancelled as well. For example, if you move from Blue Cross to Aetna, your COBRA administration services may get lost during the transition from one plan year to the next.

As a COBRA administrator, I always get a lot of calls from employers in January who need COBRA software right away because they didn't realize their benefit plan change left them without a COBRA administration services. Don't make this COBRA administration mistake!
